Why an upgrade is possible

  • Single source

One product code that does not fork by customer or country.

  • Upgrade tools provided

QAD itself provides assessment and data conversion tools.

  • Consistent data structure

Core tables and business flows carry over from one generation to the next.

  • Core separated from extensions

Customer extensions sit on the platform, which keeps core modification to a minimum.

QAD's support

Four upgrade aids from QAD

QAD provides assessment, conversion tools, module-level adoption and customization analysis. The assessment confirms which aids you can use.

  1. 01

    QAD Elevate Program

A program that builds a cloud upgrade roadmap with a fixed scope and schedule and prepackaged conversion tools.

  2. 02

    Upgrade path pre-assessment

QAD Service Delivery assessment tools confirm the upgrade path that fits your current environment.

  3. 03

Module-level adoption of a newer version

Raise only a module such as Financials to the latest release without replacing the whole core. This uses backward compatibility.

  4. 04

    AI-based customization analysis

Lynx Champion analyzes legacy customizations and business logic and feeds the result into the upgrade plan.

We plan the ERP version and the Progress DB version together, and prepare the Progress environment for the target version on a single schedule.

Assessment items

First, we check your current state

The scope and sequence of an upgrade follow from your current state. The As-Is assessment checks the following six items.

  • Current QAD version and the server and operating environment
  • Customizations, extension programs, and report and printout formats
  • Surrounding systems such as MES, EDI and groupware, and how they connect
  • Quality of master and history data and the scope of conversion
  • Progress version and DB status
  • Closing schedule and the system downtime you can allow

We confirm the quote after the assessment

We set the scope and a draft schedule from the assessment results, then present a quote. Before the assessment, we promise no duration or effect.

FAQ

Common questions before an upgrade consultation

To go from SE or EE to Adaptive, do we have to implement again?

QAD provides an upgrade path from earlier-generation versions to QAD Adaptive ERP. The aim is to carry your data and business assets forward without a rebuild. We set the actual path and scope after assessing your current version and environment.

How are the upgrade duration and cost determined?

They depend on your current version, the scope of customization, the integrated systems and the cutover approach. Orcait sets the scope in the assessment and then presents a draft schedule and a quote. We confirm the quote after the assessment.

What happens to the customizations we built?

In the assessment we analyze your current customizations and business logic. QAD places customer extensions on a platform outside the core. Orcait builds its OrCore extension programs to run on both the current version and the target version, and we prepare the upgrade together with you.

How do you handle integration with surrounding systems such as MES and EDI?

In the assessment we identify the surrounding systems that connect today, and we plan their integration with the new version as part of the upgrade scope.

Can we also move to the cloud while we upgrade?

QAD Adaptive ERP runs in the cloud on AWS. Orcait is a QAD Certified Cloud Distributor. We review together in the assessment whether and how to move to the cloud.
