EOS migrationFrom another ERP to QAD Adaptive ERP

ERP end of support:we start with a migration plan

When the end of support (EOS) of the ERP you use draws near, you have to decide whether to keep it or move. Orcait reviews your current state with an As-Is assessment and supports your move to QAD Adaptive ERP through data migration and a new implementation.

How end of support differs

The same end of support, a very different next step

For many ERPs, end of support (EOS) is the point where service stops. With no path to continue, you rebuild a new system from scratch, and you have to move again the settings and business know-how you refined over many years. The burden falls hardest on companies that have run that system carefully for years.

For QAD, end of support is not an end but the starting point for the next version. QAD provides upgrade paths from SE to EE and from EE to QAD Adaptive ERP, along with conversion tools. The data and business assets you have built carry over as they are.

End of support in many ERPs

After implementation the system ages, and when the vendor stops service, a rebuild from scratch follows. The sequence repeats.

    • 01ImplementA new ERP goes in.
    • 02AgingThe system grows old over time.
    • 03End of support (EOS)The vendor stops service for that version.
    • 04RebuildWith no path forward, you build again from scratch.

Self-check

If this sounds like you, check first

If even one applies, it is time to look at the state of your current system and the options ahead.

  • The end of support (EOS) date of the ERP you use is approaching.
  • Several old systems are tangled together, so even a small change is hard.
  • Your IT staff spend their time fixing existing systems rather than doing new work.
  • Preparing management meeting material means collecting data from several departments for days.

Migration approach

Start with an assessment, move through a new implementation

Moving from another ERP to QAD means implementing a new ERP. So we apply the new-implementation methodology and the data migration procedure together.

Five steps run in sequence: As-Is assessment, scope split, data migration plan, cutover approach, and implementation and cutover.

    • 01As-Is assessmentWe review workflows, systems, data, and customer and regulatory requirements.
    • 02Scope splitWe separate what QAD standard functions cover from what needs development or integration.
    • 03Data migration planWe set the scope and method of the data to migrate.
    • 04Cutover approachWe choose the approach that suits your company: big-bang, phased, parallel or hybrid.
    • 05Implementation and cutoverWe implement with the QAD EOB methodology, go live and stabilize.

We evaluate an investment on 10-year total cost of ownership (TCO), not on the initial implementation cost alone. We confirm the quote after an As-Is assessment.

FAQ

Common questions before an EOS consultation

What happens when the ERP we use reaches end of support (EOS)?

EOS is the point where the ERP vendor ends support for that version. After it, you cannot expect updates or technical support from the vendor. You decide whether to keep using it or move by comparing cost and risk together. Orcait helps with that comparison in the As-Is assessment.

Can we move to QAD from any ERP?

We first assess the type of ERP you use and its data structure. The assessment results set the scope and method of what we can migrate. Before the assessment, we do not promise that a migration is possible.

Can we switch without stopping the system we use now?

Yes. With a phased cutover or parallel operation, you can move to the new system while keeping your current operations running. The assessment decides which approach fits.

Do our existing data and ways of working move over as they are?

We migrate data within the scope set in the assessment. We design your ways of working around QAD standard processes. We cover requirements that standard functions cannot meet through development or integration.

How are the migration duration and cost determined?

They depend on the modules you adopt, the number of entities and the systems to integrate. We evaluate an investment on 10-year total cost of ownership (TCO), not on the initial implementation cost alone. We confirm the quote after an As-Is assessment.
